I've been writing this blog since 2005. I have had a number of content specific blogs in the past, but decided in 2013 to consolidate them all back into PJMixer. You'll find photo projects, movie reviews, new music and general thoughts about my life. She's my firework
Via Flickr:
My daughter graduated from grade 6 today and we were so proud that she was awarded the school cup - voted by her classmates for someone who is "academically successful; respectful, sensitive and considerate; seen as a leader; shows exemplary behaviour and attitude; takes initiative and actively participates in school life". She also helped choreograph a dance routine to complete the special ceremony.

Young man about town
Via Flickr:
Almost caused a fight trying to pick a shot for today between the two beautiful shots I have of my children. I decided to choose this shot of my son at Il Gatto Nero as it was a little more off-beat and not a pure portrait. My hat is turning out to be a great fashion prop these days.

Lytton Park newbie highlights
Via Flickr:
Still trying to perfect the overexposed high-contrast look, got lucky with the bird.

Muskoka chairs
Via Flickr:
I cropped this shot a little tighter to fill the frame with the classic design lines of the Muskoka chair (or as the call it South of the border, Adirondack chair).

Saurabh
Via Flickr:
I was out for a casual walk at lunchtime and came across this young man sitting by himself by Ryerson University. You can perhaps guess what got my attention, I love his Bob Marley t-shirt. I asked him about his shirt and he was happy to explain how he found this unique design at a store on Yonge Street. Saurabh is actually a business student at Seneca (not Ryerson) and was waiting for a friend. He is from India and has aspirations to do a post-grad degree and write about the relationships of people.
Saurabh is #95 in my 100 strangers project.

Steps from Lytton
Via Flickr:
A work friend recently took one of my shots and used the high pass filter to get what I feel is a HD-like clarity and granularity. I applied the same filter here on this simple subject. I like the look if it's applied to the right subject.

Shadow on Dundas
Via Flickr:
I've seen Shadow playing some fantastic blue guitar at the corner of Dundas and Yonge for a few weeks now. Really friendly guy, talks to everyone and has invited people to sing with him too. I really like how this show turned out - a applied some high contrast to get the most from the marble-like wall and having the overexposed sidewalk and white walk blend with the white page works nice.

All the moves
T & S invited my wife to jam with them at the musicians club, Downtown Jam. I went along to enjoy the music and take some photographs.

Lytton Park BMW storm damage
Via Flickr:
A ferocious storm quickly hit about 7pm in the evening. I was out playing ultimate, but rush homed through gale force winds and hail to make sure the family and house were ok. The storm quickly passed and I took a few shots of the damage while out for the evening dog walk. There were three streets cordoned off with large trees and power lines down. While looking at one fallen tree, a lady mentioned one had fallen on hus husband's car around the corner. The police were at the scene, but after a polite request, allowed me to get a little close for this shot.

Fire drill and ice cream
Via Flickr:
I got to the office mid morning after a dental appointment to find my building had been evacuated for a fire drill. I had missed the email notification, but it had been planned ahead of time and the building management company had kindly arranged for free ice cream for everyone. I thought this simple, colourful image caught the event nicely.
