Oscar extras

For movie fans tuning in to the Oscars tonight I thought I'd collect some links and add a little game (inspired by 100 Books in Facebook) in case the proceedings are moving a little slow.

The main site -
http://www.oscar.com/
Big winners and nominations -
http://www.filmsite.org/oscars2.html
IMDB -
http://www.imdb.com/features/poweroffilm/ - my movie bible.

Unfortunately I have seen very few of the nominated movies and performances this year. Having a quick look, I saw The Dark Knight (Ledger), Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Cruz), Ironman (sound and FX) and Wanted (sound).

I liked the show tonight. I haven't had the chance to see many of the nominated movies this year either - I usually do a bit better! I really thought Mickey Rourke would win as well but maybe they were just too afraid of what he might say - lol. Happy for Sean Penn though as he's very talented and made a very socially relevant film.

As for the past 25 Best Pic winners, I have missed the last two and haven't had a chance to see Slumdog yet. I have some catching up to do!

I thought the winners were very predictable. Of the top 8 awards, I guessed them all right as most other people I would expect.

When the same people win all the other award shows it makes the Oscars a bit redundant.

Wouldn't it have been great if Slumdog had won without already having won all the other awards? Amazing to think that Slumdog being the big winner was predictable. It's a shame really.
