That's how you do it

Although I'm not a big fan of the Italian football team, I really enjoyed seeing them play yesterday, with lots of creative play up front, smart passing and quality finishes. You could definitely tell they didn't want to go to penalties ! Sound familiar ?

Great win Italia, well deserved. Next up Semi number 2 - can Zidane keep it going. Vive France - World Cup fever is still here !

How can you be so objective? (very admirable but I don't think I could)

The Italians should not win the World Cup, they should enter the Olympics and give Alexandre Despatie some good competition (but of course not beat him) in the diving competition!

I talked w/ a work buddy this morning...and he was going on and on about how to change the game and how awful it is that the game can be decided by the referee; teams effectively neutralizing the game when they have one goal in the net; and all the other typical complaints we hear (when North American audiences actually pay attention to football)...

I'm guessing the rest of the world doesn't have this big a problem with the game. Sure it could be improved, but it's still a bloody good sport ! See upcoming post.

OK, just finished watching the final (recorded) as I was watching recorded Wimbledon during the World Cup match.

I won't even comment on the outcome or the "incident" as I'm sure PJ will put in a blog, but in watching this game, I realized that the two best diving teams made the final. Hard to pick a winner. Glad I'm not judging.

Well, gotta disagree with you for once there sis. Although I must agree that this World Cup presented more dives then New Jersey! Portugal and Argentina (no bias I promise) had to be the worst and most embarassing teams! Players made of glass, screaming in pain as if legs had been sawn off..... pathetic!

Can't talk about the Zidane incident, too upset still..... almost ordered a France Jersey with his name on it as I was so impressed with his play, luckily I didn't press send before extra time ended!

I am so curious about what he will say, or what really happened on the pitch! But what is maybe more of an interesting story is the "golden boot" award.

I'm the first to admit I'm not a football fan, so will accept your verdict, bro. I didn't see Argentina play.

I have read that the journalists voted at half time for the award, explaining why it was given to him (FIFA are considering revoking it).

Zidane will speak later today so stay tuned... Will he leave the comments on the pitch? or were they bad enough that some action should be taken against the Italian?
